Asus ZenFone 5 launched at MWC 2018 with Snapdragon 636 SoC & 6GB RAM

Taiwanese tech giant just announced the new Asus ZenFone 5 alongside the Zenfone 5 Lite and Zenfone 5Z, at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona. This new smartphone comes with a notch on the top like Apple iPhone X. It comes with glass back body with metal frame. Asus also unveiled its own animated emojis called Zenimoj. The Zenfone 5 users can also do live video streaming using these Zenimojis. The Zenfone 5 features basic sensors along with a secondary speaker for stereo sound effect.

The Zenfone 5 sports a 6.2″ Full HD+ (2246 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with 500 nits brightness and 90% screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform coupled with Adreno 509 GPU. It comes with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage.

On the rear, the Zenfone 5 sports dual cameras featuring 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, and 8MP wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 120-degree FoV. For selfies, there is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and supports portrait mode.

It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with ZenUI 5.0 laid on top. As said earlier, the Zenfone 5 also sports stereo speakers with dual amps. Asus is also offering DTS Headphone Technology for Hi-Fi audio output. The device is backed by a 3,300mAh non-removable battery and supports rapid Boostmaster fast charging technology. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C port.
