A month later, the company’s social image sharing platform, Instagram, leaked some users’ account password in plaintext when one used the “Download Your Data” option on the platform to download a copy of their data.
Passwords of these users were available in the URL of their web browsers and were sent to Facebook’s servers as well. Instagram said that the bug has been fixed and that it has already informed all the affected users about the bug.
This means that if you haven’t received any email from Instagram, your account and password are probably safe.
